Why do we check in?

We Check-In for a few reasons:

  1. We spend so much time not connected to ourselves and in order to grow we need to be what we are feeling at any given time.

  2. Checking-In connects our hearts to each other, helps build community, and we become more relational through difficult discussions.

  3. Checking-In helps us feel empathy. As each person Checks-In we are able to feel what they are feeling.

  4. If someone checks in heavy, there is an opportunity for them to practice the maturity skill of Knowing what they need and asking for it.

  5. Checking-In protects the group

  6. Checking-In is a Trust Cycle

  7. Checking-In also helps us feel Joy. We define Joy as the deep knowing, through relational experience, that someone is glad to be with us no matter what. So, if you Check-In with a heavy emotion or feeling you can be assured that the group is still glad to be with you!
